Anna and The Apocalypse
Co-produced with Blazing Griffin and in association with Creative Scotland Anna And The Apocalypse, musical comedy, Stars Ella Hunt (‘Our Robot Overlords’) as Anna, alongside Paul Kay (‘Game of Thrones’) as the wicked Savage and Mark Benton (‘Halcyon’) as Anna’s father. The cast also includes emerging stars Malcolm Cumming, Sarah Swire, Christopher Leveaux, Ben Wiggins and Marli Siu.
The late Ryan McHenry, who wrote and directed the BAFTA winning 2010 short film Zombie Musical upon which it is based, wrote the original script with Alan McDonald. McHenry was best known for creating internet sensation ‘Ryan Gosling Won’t Eat His Cereal’. Directing duties have now been taken on by John McPhail, the award-winning director of last year’s festival hit Where Do We Go From Here.
When the zombie apocalypse hits the sleepy town of Little Haven – at Christmas – teenager Anna and her high school friends have to fight, sing and dance to survive, with the undead horde all around them. Teaming up with her best friend John, Anna has to fight her way through zombified snowmen, Santas, elves and Christmas shoppers to get across town to the high school, where they’ll be safe. But they soon discover that being a teenager is just as difficult as staying alive, even at the end of the world.
Anna And The Apocalypse is a hilarious new take on the hugely successful zombie genre. Featuring 12 original songs, written by the incredibly talented Roddy Hart and Tommy Reilly, AATA was listed by the Hollywood Reporter as one of the top 20 films likely to sell and they have been proved correct after the first distribution announcement was made recently with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer/Orion.
